Latina Popular is a typeface that celebrates the richness of Latin American typographic culture, drawing inspiration from Peruvian vernacular signage, popularly known as Chicha.
The goal of this project is to promote Latin typography by supporting designers who seek authentic typefaces to develop their work in a market that still offers limited options within this aesthetic. This font stands as an accessible alternative that remains true to the cultural roots that inspired it.
Because of its popular origins, the typeface is released for free, with the intention of spreading Latin America’s exceptionally rich and diverse typographic heritage while encouraging creativity across a wide range of applications.
