Museo is a distinctive sans serif and slab serif font family designed by Jos Buivenga and published by exljbris Font Foundry. With ten styles, it offers versatility for a range of design applications, from branding to editorial work.
The inspiration for Museo came from Buivenga’s fascination with the letter ‘U’, which appeared to him in a daydream with its stems bending into semi-slab serifs. This concept led to the development of the uppercase letters, initially intended as an all-caps display font. However, to enhance its usability, lowercase characters were later introduced, along with refined spacing and kerning for improved legibility and balance.
Museo’s clean, structured letterformsand subtle serifs make it a blend of modernity and classic elegance, suitable for both print and digital typography. The font family also paved the way for variations like Museo Sans and Museo Slab, expanding its stylistic range even further.
