Bookerly is a serif typeface created by Dalton Maag for Amazon’s Kindle e-readers and applications. Amazon.com claims that the font, in conjunction with a new typesetting engine, allows the user to “read faster with less eyestrain.” The font features kerning pairs and ligatures.
The 2015 Kindle Paperwhite (3rd generation) saw the font change from Caecilia to Bookerly, and it has continued to serve as the default font on Amazon’s subsequent e-readers. Bookerly is available on Amazon’s Developer site and was also added to many older Kindle devices through firmware updates.
